*SPOILER ALERT* - AT THE END OF THE REVIEW

The first thing that must be mentioned is the music. The soundtrack is fantastic. Everybody knows On the Dark Side because it's played on every classic rock station in America, every day. But the rest of it is quite good. I always thought that Bruce Springsteen sang that song, but it's actually John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. My dad has this on cassette, I might have to blow the dust off of my tape deck and go get it from him.
As for the movie itself, it's really not that bad. It's fairly predictable, but it's charming. Our view into the band is Tom Berenger's character, not Eddie. I didn't like the plot device of the reporter on the trail of Eddie possibly being alive and the lost tapes. I understand it was a way to jump right into the film, but it didn't work. I still think you could cut that out and the movie would work even better.
I didn't hate this film, I don't know if I could watch it again, but that's not because of the quality of the film. It's because it's more like an episode of CSI, once you know the end, you can't really watch it again.
Now for the SPOILER ALERT.
I HAVE TO USE ALL CAPS FOR THIS: I LOVED THE "JIM MORRISON" ENDING. AND I CALLED IT! I was hoping we were going to see Eddie walking around with a big beard.
