'The Bling Ring' covers the burglary spree of one group of teenagers. We see reenactments of their steals from the stars and get a sense of their basic reasons for doing so. That's all there is too this film, really. The 'no-narrative' structure is fine, but the absence of any viewer investment leaves much more to be desired. The film does highlight the selfish, fame obsessed, materialistic, and completely vapid lack of personality of these teens, which I took as a precise criticism. This only made me loathe the characters more. It's aim is in the right place, but parts of it seem as empty as these would-be thieves.
