Caligula - the Ben-Hur of porn movies!

It's exactly everything that you've heard about. That is if you keep up with the reputation of 'so-bad-it's-good' movies. Funny thing is that Caligula is a reasonably well-made movie from a technical standpoint. The unbelievable set design is amazing and the scale of the debauchery that unfolds before the audience puts shows like Game of Thrones to shame. In fact, I'm surprised this movie still has such a seedy reputation since it's very similar in content and commentary to Game of Thrones as it focuses as much on politics as it does the sexuality and nudity. In the latter department, it does not disappoint...at...all. Whatever floats your boat whether it be orgies, lesbians, skinny-dipping, and much more happen once or twice in this movie. The only reason I can think for people having a negative opinion of it is that it does run too long for its own good and the performances are not convincing. This is more of a problem with the sound rather than the acting though but it's done so poorly you'd think they dubbed over the English-speaking actors!
