"The Brutalist" is not faultless, but is something to be admired nonetheless. This uncompromising historical epic is a filmmaking feat tackling some tough subjects relating to the immigrant experience like assimilation, antisemitism, addiction, personal shortcomings and failures, trust and betrayal, the drive to make one's mark on history, and how ambitions can become obsessions leading to our undoing. At almost 4 hours in length, it can be daunting to want to watch, but I can assure you won't let you go underwhelmed if you choose to.
