Not so much getting better as a director, just not sucking as bad, Rob Zombie returns for a "re-imagining" of the iconic horror film. It's not as bad as most people feared it would be but it's not exactly good either. The last thing a horror movie needs to be is boring and unfortunately, that's exactly what this film is. Too much time is spent on how Michael Myers came to be (and who really gives a s**t anyway) and not enough time is spent in Haddonfield. Not to mention that the supporting characters are so un-likeable that as an audience you're kind of rooting for Michael. The sad thing is that I think that's what Zombie was trying to do. Make the audience feel sympathy for a heartless killing machine. Which basically makes this film the Devils Rejects. Being a fan of the horror genre I am not impressed with Rob Zombie at all and this is his most impressive film. It isn't outright bad. It's just not good. Proceed with caution.
