Not A Typical Sci Fi Movie...A Must See

I found myself interested in this movie because of the TV ads.....and let me tell you....the ads may pique your interest....but definitely don't give away too much. This movie was much more than I expected and I loved it. It's set in an alternate time...or universe....20 years after an alien spacecraft appeared hovering over Johannesburg. The aliens can't leave and end up in a segregated slum area called District 9. After endless pressure from the public, the government decides to force them out of their homes and relocate them to District 10....the new facility. Enter Wickus....the son in law of the big boss who's put in charge of informing the "prawns" that they must go and take care of the paperwork. There's also some alien weapons that only the aliens can use. The government wants this biotechnology. Sadly for Wickus, he's exposed to an alien liquid and is quickly taken for research. That's as much as I'll talk about here. The story takes twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. The acting was excellent.....the plot interesting .... and the dialogue kept me interested. It's an intelligent movie. I thought it was suspenseful and thrilling. I totally enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. Don't be put off by it being labeled sci fi. You don't have to be into sci fi to get into this movie.
