District 9 Review

You may have heard a lot of claims that it's pretty much impossible to review this movie without giving away really big spoilers. Basically to give you an idea in a nutshell, imagine the events of District 6 set in the near future. Indeed there's more to the story, but I find District 9's story something that should be witnessed instead of explained. It's not just an action movie, but it deals with themes that would be worth considering if we were to ever actually see aliens meet us on Earth. I know it sounds like a sloppy description, but I don't want to spoil much. I can tell you this much though, for it's amazingly small budget, it sure manages to accomplish a lot of technical feats, like the robots and weapons for instance. There's also a reason this movie is rated R, it's like Starship Troopers in terms of violence, but makes it look even more realistsic, so yeah, blood is bound to be seen everywhere. District 9 is something that can appeal to many people even if they aren't fond of the genre. You'd just have to get past the reason why it's rated R in the first place
