Hot Fuzz

A must-have movie. I'm not obsessed with cop films at all but I enjoyed this spoof nonetheless. I did catch a few film references here and there but not as much as I did in "Shaun of the Dead." It's as funny as their preceeding zombie flick but maybe a bit more ambitious. After an hour and fifteen minutes, it started delving into the mystery genre, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's as if they've turned a bunch of really bad films into a great film by means of spicing them up with a plethora of daring originality. I love how they introduce jokes that most will perceive as a one-time thing, but as it turns out, they come back later on with more powerful punches. I wish Simon Pegg would create more astute spoofs like "Hot Fuzz" and "Shaun of the Dead." How about spoofing spy films next time? Charismatic sociopaths? Tear-jerkers? Well, whatever they have under their sleeves, I'll be sure to catch it. Did I mention that I'll be buying this on DVD? It's THAT good.
