I was really looking forward to this after Sorrentino's The Consequences of Love. Sadly, it's a disaster in all respects. The main problem is that it can't decide what it wants to be and the consequences of this are a terrible muddle. Maybe something was lost in translation but lines like 'I've got no knickers on' ceased to be funny about fifty years ago.
Sorrentino said he wanted 'to make a film about an atypical family...a film about an elderly mother living with her grown-up son'. He's done that alright but then so did Sylvester Stallone and look what happened there. Actually, don't.
