Very underrated film, probably because it was so out of synch with much that Hitch had done before. Ironically, with its dark humour it fitted into the period perfectly. Much of this is to do with the cast, particularly Bruce Dern and Karen Black - icons of the 70s. But Hitch couldn't win: make the film that people expect and it's considered dated, make a film of its time and he's lambasted for trying to be 'with it'.
