MacGruber review

Just because a movie is a flop doesn't mean it stinks. Numbers don't really make a film good. An underrated comedy which is lewd, violent, stupid and yet highly enjoyable. MacGruber (Will Forte) was asked by Col. Jim Faith (Powers Boothe) and Lt. Dixon Piper (Ryan Phillippe) to stop Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) from taking control of a missile with a nuclear warhead. One of MacGruber's recruits, Vicki St. Elmo (Kristen Wiig), will aid him in the mission. When viewing this without knowledge one might think it is a bad film since the lead is ridiculously weird, a MacGyver ripoff, had bad clothing and had cheesy 80's music played on a tape deck. It's all part of the plan to make an unlikely hero so loveable. The humor was really good and plot was interesting enough to stick with. This picture would not have been so hilarious without the wackiness of Forte, effective screenplay, seriousness of Philippe, innocence of Wiig and well picked soundtrack. MacGruber may seem moronic and pointless, it brings out the laughs, which is important for a comedy anyways.
