Great visuals

First off, you have to read the graphic novel before seeing this, if not, you moviegoing experience will be sub-par. As for the film itself, it's quite visually stunning and the fight scenes are great, but there's no character development, everybody seems flat. That could be because the acting is average at best. But, we were spoiled last year to have two brilliant superhero films with great acting in Iron Man and The Dark Knight. The ending is also different, than what was in the book but I won't spoil that for you.
And as for Freddie's comments below, the personal drama was what made the original source novel so great in the first place. You felt for these heroes because they were human. Yes, I know, so is Batman, but you never really feel anything for him. Great, he's …

The best graphic novel brought to life

One of the most brilliant novels of the last 25 years finally makes it's way to the screen. Zack Snyder has been extremely faithful to the "most celebrated graphic novel of all time" with one big exception, but more on that in a minute.
Having read the novel many years ago and refreshing myself with it last year, I can say that all actors are well cast (something I was worried about) and that they all bring the characters to life very close to I envisioned them in the book. It was such a thrill seeing the novel's parts brought to life, particularly Rorshach's prison break and Dr. Manhattan's exile on Mars. The ending has been altered to fit into something more realistic and timely, but this change flows just fine with the rest of the film.
If you're going in expecting a comic …

Watchmen the truth behind the masks...

This movie was hands down the most intellectually stimulating movie of the year... The novel itself is very illuminating and it offers a totally new perspective on the life of a hero, as did the movie... The comedian played the role of the just hero while simultaneously playing the role of the unjust... Dr. Manhattan is the indifferent mock god that no longer wishes to assimilate with the world...Rorshach is the psychotic detective with the soul of an angel and the unfortunate persona of the apathethic crime fighter....Night owl is the retired super hero who simply can't find his place...The silk spectre is the beutiful yet underappreciated girlfriend of doctor manhattan who seeks out love with night owl.... and finally the brains behind the operation, ozymandius was the self proclaimed …

THE UNWATCHABLEMEN
Freddie - wrote on 03/07/2009
The best part about that movie was the credits. For three hours I sat in a theatre and I think the couple in front of me and wanted to punch me in the face, because almost everytime I shifted in agony I kicked the back of one of their chairs. This movie was absolutely miserable to me. Perhaps if I had read this graphic novel I would feel more connected. However, any one who has watched a Harry Potter movie doesn't come out of the theatre saying "Maybe I should read up on this cause I didn't quite get it."
I thought the entire thing was terrible from beginning to end. There were a few moments that caught my attention and some funny quotes, but other than that I couldn't care less about the characters. I couldn't understand their point. They were like superheros but not really, because …

Peaceful Oblivion

Now this is the very definition of what film making is all about. The Watchmen is absolutely the epitome of all comic book movies. Zack Snyder created this dark reality with finesse and embellished it with an extremely stunning cinematics. It's quite masterful how he executed the sequences flawlessly without diverting my attention far away from the much layered story. Well for one it has this divided storylines between characters and it's somewhat distracting to stick to one person's path without being confused with the bigger picture. Because there are really too much going on in one setting, it's like converging a five window screen into one. That's why I'm blown away with what this director has created. A sort of like witnessing a masterpiece being put together piece by piece. It …
