"I will break your spirit".

Ted Crawford: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day". The movie is about a man who discovers that his beautiful younger wife, Jennifer, is having an affair, he plans her murder--the perfect murder. Among the cops arriving at the crime scene is hostage negotiator Detective Rob Nunally, the only officer permitted entry to the house. Surprisingly, Crawford readily admits to shooting his wife, but Nunally is too stunned to pay close attention when he recognizes his lover, whose true identity he never knew, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. This is a film that was overlooked by everyone. It didn't do well at the box office and critics was mix about this film, and after watching the film I got to say the movie was okay, yep just okay. The movie opening was sold. Showing everything in …

Anthony Hopkins play a meticulous structural engineer named Ted Crawford who designs and builds elaborate contraptions in his spare time. He shoots his cheating spouse Jennifer when he discovers that she is having an affair with a police detective confessing to the cops he did it and awaits his trial with an unnatural calming demeanor. The rest of the story - and excitement - is about his devilishly clever scheme to get away with it.

Enter Assistant District Attorney Willy Beachum (Ryan Gosling) who believes he has a slam-dunk case and agrees to go to trial. What Beachum thought was a perfectly simple case ends up being a battle of wits and a psychological fight that takes him to his breaking point in his attempt to put the cool and calculating intellectual behind bars. Ryan Gosling …

Theodore "Ted" Crawford (Anthony Hopkins), a rich engineer, witnesses his wife Jennifer (Embeth Davidtz) having an affair with a police detective namely Robert Nunally (Billy Burke). Ted gets home early to the surprise of Jennifer. He shoots her and confronts Robert. In the trial, Ted asks William "Willy" Beachum (Ryan Gosling) for legal representation.

Camera work was spectacular. Screenplay was enlightening with a few quotes: Ted – “You look closely enough, you'll find that everything has a weak spot where it can break, sooner or later.” “You're a winner, Willy.” Pace of the film slows down when Willy tried to search for the evidence and fooling around with his soon to be boss, which is preposterous in actuality. Anthony Hopkins was solid as always. Fracture is a …

"Fracture" by Yojimbo

A brilliant engineer murders his wife in cold blood, immediately giving himself up and confessing. But against such a wily opponent, what seemed like an open and shut case proves to be a lot harder to prove than the prosecutor first suspected. Rather like the old Columbo format, Fracture begins with the murder and the rest of the story involves the police trying to prove the murderer's guilt, and Hopkins' commanding performance as the gleefully smug and arrogant killer is the main reason to watch the film. Because of this and the interesting premise, the opening act to Fracture is very strong indeed, but the film soon descends into documenting the ups and downs of a douchey lawyer and his over-privileged would-be girlfriend who are both very difficult to give a crap about. As things …

Fracture

Anthony Hopkins is as cryptic as usual so I wasn't that shocked that he was good in it. I guess whenever Anthony Hopkins is in a picture, you expect it to be good or even great. What surprised me the most was how Ryan Gosling stacked up against a great actor. Both of them are comparable in so many ways, to the point where I looked forward to scenes when they would verbally collide. Watching this movie is like watching a chess match. Granted, it's not as tedious, but my point is that it's fascinating to watch each character react and adapt to certain situations. I was at the edge of my seat until the last scene because I wanted to know if good will win against evil. Ultimately, I think this movie is about strong minds that believe they cannot be beaten. There's a lesson hidden in this …
