Realism In Animation
Su Zany - wrote on 11/16/2013
I don't usually like animated movies. Thank goodness Pixar came along while my children were children. The Incredibles, while underwhelming initially, still has me captivated when I think about it, so I have had to up its rating. I love how the real is exaggerated - as in Mom's are supposed to be elastic and flexible - just like the Mom in The Incredibles. All of the characters have this 'supe'r stereotype. Younger children have much energy and are always running some place. Teenage girls are always trying to disappear. Fathers are supposed to be strong and saviors. The funniest interaction in this movie - and you must watch the whole movie to get the impact of the smaller 'outtakes' - is the relationship between Jack-Jack (the baby) and the babysitter (Kari).

The Incredibles review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 04/27/2012
A classic movie may not be enjoyed by everyone, but appeals to a number that makes it amazing for repeat viewings. This reviewer has seen this film more than twice and it never fails to entertain. Bob and Helen together with their kids Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack have special powers. Mirage asks Bob to do a mission which eventually he becomes accustomed to. Some wonderful lines: Mr. Incredible - "Sometimes, I think I just like the simple life, you know, relax a little and raise a family." Elastigirl - "Your identity is your most precious possession. Protect it." Mirage - "Valuing life is not a weakness. And disregarding it is not strength." Edna - "I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now."
Voice actors did a splendid job to make the characters alive and …

"The Incredibles" by Yojimbo

When superheroes are outlawed by a government sick of lawsuits and compensation claims, Mr. Incredible finds himself stuck in an dreary insurance job pining for the good old days. Expecting The Incredibles to be a witty, satirical parody of the superhero genre I was slightly disappointed to find it a more an affectionate homage than anything else. The best sequences are definitely the ones showing Mr. Incredible's frustration with his dead end job, but at the end of the day, this is a kids film so I was probably just expecting too much. It has that plasticky quality that CGI films always have, but it has some nice Gerry Anderson/James Bond themed images and the usual mix of references and in-jokes that are common to this type of thing; the Return Of The Jedi chase sequence probably being …

Quite Incredible

This is one of the many great Pixar films because it’s extremely family-friendly and it doesn’t get old after one viewing. It’s smart enough to focus on characterization during the first forty-five minutes and saving the action-adventure for the rest of its running time. After the audiences are familiar enough with the basics of the characters, each of them are put on the spotlight and shows us their strengths and weaknesses both as superheroes and regular human beings. Even though it’s full of energy, it doesn’t sacrifice its intelligence when it comes to its script and visual candy. I was impressed with some of the ideas of this film such as the superheroes getting sued because some people did not want to be saved, the superheroes going underground because their actions are …

Could've been more "Incredible," but still good

"Mister Inredible" (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) is a man with unique gifts which he uses to help his fellow man -- even if he is late for his own wedding to "Hellen," (voiced by Holly Hunter) whom the world knows as "Elastigirl". In fact, both were late for their own wedding because they both went after the same criminal.
Soon after the wedding, the superheroes were forced by the government to live their lives in their secret identities and not help those in need after a rash of lawsuits were filed against the superheroes. However, the government created a relocation program not unlike the witness relocation program for the superheroes. Years later, the two are now living a "normal" life raising their three children -- two of which have their own powers.
"Bob" now works as an …

You will love Brad Bird... I will make you

If you've never been a fan of Brad Bird, you will now (at least I hope so). The Incredibles is a story of the typical superhero family forced into exile when money-hungry "regular individuals" take out their inadequate feelings on the group of extraordinary humans. No one knows why everyone has super-powers, they just do. Unfortunately, this is the same sad story that happens in real life. But I digress, if you wanted to know about real life, you'd be reading Oprah or Dr. Phil, not this review. Back to the story. The Incredible learn how to work together as a family and face the perils of jealousy (when the wife believes her husband is cheating), low self-esteem (when the lead character needs the comfort of a platinum-haired ingenue to help him feel more muscular), and the sweet, …

The title suits the movie..its simply incredible.

Of all the Pixar movies this is my absolute favorite. I really think that the character development, and the dedication to detail was what made this movie this great. Bob Parr is an insurance adjuster that was once recognized as a famous superhero. During one of his heroic escapades he saved a man that was trying to commit suicide. After saving him, the man said he didn't want to be saved and now because he is in pain he decided to sue Mr. Incredible....and subsequently he wins.
So now that superheroes are no longer supposed to help people because they are constantly in fear of legal repercussions they have to lead ordinary lives just like everyday people. When Bob recieves a mysterious letter that tells him that "they know who he is" and offer him a job to help them, he takes the …
