A Good Modern Feminist Picture

The main reason why I liked this movie quite a bit is because of the way the story unfolded. It was very honest and there were a lot of instances where it could have fallen to cliches but managed to avoid them. Amber Tamblyn was really enjoyable in this because you believe that she's this innocent girl that was raised in a bubble; when reality struck, it struck her hard and it was utterly devastating to watch. Tilda Swinton is also effective because she has this tough exterior but as the movie goes on, we get to know more about her--that she's not as strong as she may seem. This film is not just about one particular tragedy. It consists of many layers, some of which include belonging, the fine line between reality and illusion, maturity, societal influence, and personal choices. It's …
