One of Almodovar's more accessible films - a movie that tugs at the heartstrings with a believable performance from Penelope Cruz and an inventive plot structure that plays with the supernatural, but, ultimately, becomes about an engaging family drama.

Like any good soap the sum of its parts are greater than the whole, and there are some very good parts here in between the bubbles.I found myself torn between enjoying the film and wishing that Pedro and his wonderful girls had done something different. From anyone else this would have been good, but Pedro's treading water here. Worth seeing, though, if only for the luminous La Cruz.

By far and away, the best movie Penelope Cruz has ever made. I absolutely loved this movie!
