Could have been better, but also could have been a lot worse. As tired as the whole "found footage" genre has gotten (and especially with this particular series) they still manage to throw in some neat trick (a GoPro camera, social media). It starts off interesting, but by the end they rely on too many of the same tired tricks they have before (complete with the whole "coven" thing that never really made sense to me). I also like the fact they changed settings a bit - courting the Latino audience while doing the whole urban thing - rather than a boring single household. If you're a fan of the series, it's still worth a watch.

The Wacky 'Ones'

This is a seriously dumb sequel, but I found it more entertaining than part 4. As a whole, 'The Marked Ones' stays true to the workings of the series. However, there's less reliance on some of the usual tropes. This time the camera operators (or supposed characters) take to the urban streets. No slow reveal of a house haunting with multiple nights of ghost capturing home videos. Nope, here we follow an on-foot investigation into the mysterious witch cult that's been hinted at since part 3. One of the main characters develops unexplained powers through unexplained reasons, then slowly turns into a weird possessed being who kills for no reason. I found much of the latter half to be unintentionally funny. That's about it for positives. It wasn't as mundane and routine as part 4, …
