If i had watched this when i was a kid i may have liked it. But im 20. And the cheesy ass claymation creatures and horrible special effects just add to the worthless pile of crap the is the end result

I can't remember how many times I saw this, one my earliest, and fondest, horror film memories. The effects were good at the time (not so much now) and it has a classic good vs. evil plot. It isn't the best film ever, but I still dig it.

Review - The Gate (1987)

When Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) found a hole in Glen’s backyard, they never expected it to lead to Hell. Now they must try and stop a demonic take over in “The Gate.”
Never have I been more bored to tears with the first half of a movie then completely enthralled with the second. The entire first half is just exposition leading up to a very well done second half, even if the writing is still pretty pathetic. The special effects are pretty well done for the time.
There are a lot of things I don’t like about this movie, such as the acting and the writing, but overall it’s actually pretty good. There are some clever moments and some pretty cool scenes, but there’s also a lot of mistakes and confusing techniques used, most of which only took place in the …
