"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" by Yojimbo
Yojimbo - wrote on 05/28/2017
Tony Stark attempts to integrate an artificial intelligence of unknown origins into his defence network and unwittingly creates an artificial life form intent on the destruction of the human race. Age Of Ultron follows the rather hackneyed formula of "A.I. tasked with the defence of the human race decides the best course of action is to exterminate it" of The Terminator and, well, nearly every other si-fi story written since Isaac Asimov took up his pen. The result is Thor flying around smashing up robots, Hulk jumping around smashing up robots, Iron Man flying around shooting robots, Black Widow running around shooting robots and Hawkeye running around...well, you get the idea. It follows the blockbuster sequel formula of action / one liner / action / one liner ad infinitum to the …

Some pacing issues, but good overall

In 2012, comic book enthusiasts and the average moviegoer alike, witnessed Earth’s mightiest heroes fighting side by side on the big screen for the first time ever. This year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” however, did not have the same luxury granted to its predecessor. With the wow factor from the first installment gone, the sequel had to rely on a compelling story in addition to strong character development. Thankfully the Avengers delivered both, and kicked off the summer with a bang.
Based on the film’s marketing campaign, one might assume that the movie’s tone was going to be much darker than the first. The film tends to lean more on the humorous side however, with much of the comedic relief stemming from James Spader’s Ultron.
While Spader’s portrayal of …

Near Perfect Sequel!

Avengers Age of Ultron is a genuine EPIC motion picture event. There are so many characters, moving parts and expectations involved in this sequel that the usual, succinct review system no longer applies. We need to look at and judge each aspect of the film in a new light because Avengers raised the bar and this film just shatters it. The movie works on every level and really is a genuine motion picture event. Honestly, no blockbuster can possibly top this one for the rest of the year.
Most refreshingly of all, Age of Ultron specificity feels much more intimate and nuanced than its predecessor. Avengers was great as an action filled payoff to Marvel’s Phase One but this movie delivers that and so much more.
Avengers Age of Ultron delivers depth of emotion and depth of character …

Summer Blockbuster that is crazy and mindless.

Joss Whedon knows what the fans want. Being a summer blockbuster, it should not fall short of a visual spectacle. There in deed comes, Ultron for us. A visceral, heart filled, character driven, and mindless action blockbuster of the year. It is so less in terms of the original, may it be the nature of the plot, the driving action elements, and the wow factor, but still we have the heart to digest these characters and support them when in trouble. Whedon does not waste time in introducing characters, rather brings in a wowser of an opening act, where all our heroes battle for Loki's sceptor. Is it all retrieved in the first one? No it is missing and no reasons given. This is the beginning that tells us the story is recycled again. In the mean time, Stark aka Iron Man does not want his …

Here We Go Again

There are two types of thought when it comes to the Avengers movies. There are those who absolutely love the franchise that will keep on watching new installments and there are those who are getting a little bit tired of it. Unfortunately, I fit into the latter category. The story is about the Avengers trying to stop of Ultron, who was created by Tony Stark, from destroying the planet with a meteor he created. I will give the movie this that it does have some really entertaining action scenes, our favorite characters are still who they are, and it does have a good sense of humor. It is entertaining at times, but I feel that there's something about it that's a little bit stale. The plot and the stakes that were created in this movie is almost similar to the first one and it doesn't …

Age of Ultron

Joss Whedon's second dive into the Marvel Cinematic Universe delivers the pleasant thrills and entertainment one would typically expect in one of these offerings. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" isn't nearly as flawlessly written and structured as Whedon's first great installment. This sequel just gets the job done. The characters are tons of fun. The action is well handled and shot remarkably. Ultron, at best, delivers laughs, which is a bit of a letdown considering he's nothing close to the force of nature I wanted him to be. Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch (especially Scarlett Witch) are great additions to the team, but old timers including Black Widow and Bruce Banner share a subplot that, while not senseless, feels a little pointless and time consuming. But when all is said and done, Joss …

'None of this makes sense' - Hawkeye

For the first time, it seems that a comic-book movie has truly captured all the visual splendor, the action overkill, the melodramatic expostion, and the ceaseless posturing that comes with the medium. And it looks fan-freaking-tastic.
Luckily enough, Joss Whedon recognized that he can no longer rely on the novelty of multiple superheros in one movie to sell said movie since he himself did it already. Therefore, he actually tells a story and what a robust example of muscular storytelling 'Age of Ultron' happens to be! The size and scale of the production and the huge cast of returning stars as well as new ones never once feels too overwhelming or unwieldy thanks to a screenplay more than capable enough of containing its high energy and still deliver spectacular thrills!

Everything... And Then Some

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' is much heftier than it's predecessor. It's bigger in scope, delivers more bombastic action, and has more fan service than I thought possible. In some ways it does improve upon the first 'Avengers'. This installment adds drama between characters. Certain heroes without their own standalone films are given time to develop, allowing some investment for when the stakes are raised. New heroes/villains are also introduced to great affect. The fact that there are a multitude of well defined characters having balanced screen time in this massive endeavor, and they all have a handful of memorable moments to shine, AND the film still somehow manages to stay structurally sound... that is an incredible feat! What's more amazing is how fun and hilarious it is in …

The Avengers: Age of Ultron review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 05/11/2015
It's baffling that Hulk gets better story arcs in the Avenger's films tan its stand alone movies. Here Banner has a love interest and helps in the creation of Ultron. A surprising aspect of Hawkeye's life was revealed and more members are introduced here. Battle with Iron Man and Hulk was funny and pure eye candy and Thor suddenly has a sense of humor. Not much to talk about the sequel compared to the flawless first installment. At least this gets darker as one of the Avenger's actually pass away. With regards to the score and visual effects, it is always seamless. If only the writing were better and plot more exciting. Yes the film focuses on technology, Stark saying they can relax and just deploy copies of themselves to save Earth from alien related attacks. What's nice about …
