"Fury" by Yojimbo

An idealistic raw recruit is assigned to a tank crew commanded by grizzled combat veteran Brad Pitt during the Allied invasion of Germany in the latter stages of World War II.
David Ayer’s contribution to the “war is Hell” genre is rooted firmly in the grim realities of day-to-day combat, where violence is a way of life, brutality is commonplace and ugly murder the norm. The tank crew is a strange assortment who have little in common and bicker and fight amongst themselves constantly, but once the shooting starts share a bond of trust and absolute loyalty. The story revolves around the relationship between battle-hardened pragmatist Pitt and young, fresh-faced Logan Lerman and they go through the usual “learning to respect each other” motions that are common to the genre. …

Best Job in the Worst Situation

Fury gets war right - it's not glamorous, it's not fun - it's dirty, it's mean and it will change you. The crew of Fury has been through it all - Africa, cleaning up after D-Day, Belgium and now they find themselves in Germany, the war nearly over, but still plenty of people to kill. They have just lost their tail-gunner and the replacement is a recruit 8 weeks in, formerly a typist. He doesn't know how he got there, doesn't really want to be in a tank crew - but that's where he is. I wish the film had gone more in depth with these characters - Lerman and Pitt are given some elements to work with, but everyone else (Peña, LaBeouf and Bernthal) are pretty much broad strokes (angry, religious, insane). If it had been deeper, it would have been better - but at least it portrays war in the …

Living up to its title 'Fury' with a vengence.

David Ayer's WW2 ensemble piece is as hardened and unrelenting as the tank crew it focuses on. The gritty style and somber tone of his direction sometimes reminded me of Saving Private Ryan though 'Fury' is not on that level despite its hopes and constant efforts to convince viewers otherwise.
That said, the acting is surprisingly good all across the board. We've seen all these characters before in other war movies but the script turns it on its head by suggesting each stock character is merely putting on a facade to deal with the ceaselessly brutal conditions of war.
Logan Lerman serves as the audience's POV while Brad Pitt is solid as the stoic tank commander 'Wardaddy'. Shia LaBeouf and Jon Bernthal work as great foils of each other;LaBeouf plays a devout Christian and Bernthal is …

ww2 war movie starring brad pitt as a tank commander with his battle scared crew who have fought they their way into germany for the closing stages of the war. it starts with one guy kiilled and the replacement for his fury tank is a young inexperienced and soft minded solider for which brad pitts character sets out to harden him up for the battles that lye ahead.
first of the acting is pretty good from all the guys, the main problem i found with this film was none of the characters are likeable at all. except the new recruit , the main guys act backward and half crazy and jus arn't nice people. its hard to root for anybody in this film. the scenes with the german girls just makes you hate them all. and the piano singing and bed thing and the whole scene there really was unrealistic …

Wardaddy: "Best job I ever had!"
Matthew Brady - wrote on 10/31/2014
If war every had a face it will be ugly.
The story is about a battled-hardened sergeant, Wardaddy, commands a Sherman tank and five-man crew, aiming for the heart of Germany despite being out-manned, out-gunned and fielding a rookie recruit.
Fury is a movie that shows what it needs to show, not like other war movies and that is it shows the brutal and hard things in war and how it effect's people, because Fury in opinion is the war film that get's it right just like Saving private Ryan and I'm not even joking.
The good things in the movie: The sound in this movie when the bombs are going off or they are having a shoot out scene, it sounds so real and so in your hears loud I got to give the guy who did the sound in this movie a thumps up for that. Brad Pitt in this movie played …

Better than Most

World War 2 has been beaten to death by Hollywood, and it’s no wonder why. Old people love the heck out of WW2. You can hardly turn on the History channel without seeing a documentary on the subject, and at least one big movie set in the time and place comes out every year. The war on Hitler is definitely making its money back.
Fury is the latest in the WW2 series, but it’s a lot less patronizing and silly then a lot of other historical fiction movies set in the time period. It’s less of a war epic or a character piece and more of a “slice of life” with very little in the way of grandiosity or theatricality. This can be a tad frustrating at times, but Ayer and his actors do and grand job with the material; the result being an above average war thriller that will thrill …

'Fury' is Ferocious

'Fury' is one of the best war films I've seen in a long time. Half of the reasoning is due to the non-typical story. It's a small, intimate piece centering on the efforts of one team. Five terrific actors lay claim to honest camaraderie. Together, they become one unstoppable force. Impactful drama surfaces progressively. The dialogue does away with the usual cliched speeches. There's no preaching, flag-waving, or 'anti' messages to be found. This is all about the human qualities. The other half that shines is the intense close quarters combat. It's filmed so precisely, with the intent of giving the viewer the full experience. I felt excitement and fear to the point where hearing gunfire or explosions would automatically put me on edge. The tensity holds and the movie …
