Unique Tale

At first, I thought that The Night Listener would be a heart-wrenching thriller, but the drama takes up more the story than any scary part of the movie. Normally, I wouldn't watch a movie with drama, but sometimes the surprises in film make the movie so much better.
The story was believable, and a bit sad. The main character is a man named Gabriel Noone, who is played by Robin Williams. Noone is struggling with relationships in his world while staring a relationship with Pete, a 14 year old boy, over the phone. This idea is unique, and I liked the idea from the beginning of the film. Plus the way the story evolved through the film really felt realistic to me, almost to the point where I thought I was there along side Noone, experiencing these things for myself.

A disturbing, effectively haunting little movie.

Robin Williams plays Gabriel Noone, a late night radio storyteller who has formed a telephone friendship with a sick boy named Peter, He written a book on the horiffic events of chid molestation, rape,and abuse he suffered. Soon Gabriel wonders if it's all a hoax,is the boy a hoax crafted by his susposed guardian Donna. Played by Toni Collette who is the complete opposite of her last role in Little Miss Sunshine. Donna strings Gabriel along with just enough reason to believe and hope Peter is real, but common sense tell Gabriel that it's all a setup and nothing he believes is real. Willams delivers a great restrained performance and Collette is amazing as Donna who is overly Protective of a Sick child or crazy in a way that will chill you to the bone.
