Another example of movies ruin books. However, the movie was good and Rosamund Pike was amazing. She pulls the role off exquisitely!

Gone Girl.... A masterpiece.

This movie was one of the best movies I have seen in a couple of years. Even though I am not a huge Ben Affleck fan, Rosamund Pike was outstanding and the direction of David Fincher was phenomenal....Even though most people would think the build-up was long and drawn out... I think Fincher did an excellent job in trying to paint doubt in Nick Dunne's innocence.. It showed the chinks in the armor of the marriage.. Built a guilty aura around Nick to where you despised him... You felt sorry for the "missing wife"... Then the secret comes out... You feel bad for all the pressure Nick is facing (with a still hatred of him for cheating) and start to despise her... But it then gets better... Her plans are derailed when the crooked neighbors steal her stash.... And she has to reach for an exbf …

As the saying goes, "The bitch set me up."

Based off the bestselling novel, 'Gone Girl' is an absolutely unnerving but often darkly comical mystery thriller that also serves as a blistering indictment against the media frenzy that happens during every one of these high profile 'missing persons' case.
Ben Affleck gives one of his career's best performances as Nick Dunne, the self-described small-town guy from Missouri who seemingly scores the perfect wife in Amy Elliot (Rosamund Pike) who suddenly disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. The community and nation rallies together in search of Amy but also to relentlessly pass judgement on Nick's innocence or lack thereof. In a big budget thriller like this you better believe there's some plot twists;some that have been spoiled in 'Gone Girl's marketing but some still pack a …

One of the best movies of the year for me - great performances and a tense story - Fincher continues to impress.

I'm going to see the first showing in the morning.  It looks really good to me, but David Fincher has underwhelmed me a couple times before. But still; even an underwhelming Fincher thriller is better than the boring dreck that's been in theaters for the last month.  I paid to go see The Maze Runner, I don't think I can justify not seeing Gone Girl.Who knows? It could be great!

Considering I haven't seen a film since Into the Storm (in the beginning of August), Gone Girl finally has me anticipating a movie again. I think David Fincher is an amazing director and early reports are that Gone Girl is another triumph (and even has some buzzing about Oscars - though it may be a bit early).Even so, I'm finally happy this fall has given me a film to look forward to - at least to tide me over until Interstellar happens.
