Same old, same old Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino once again delivers the same movie he has been making over and over again for years, this one is set in the southern United States just before the Civil War- but the song remains the same. That is not to say its a bad song, just nothing original. The movie features the expected brutal graphic violence and long dialogue sequences, and of course a complete lack of any sustained action sequences. Also, the constant use of way too modern sounding songs often takes you out of the movie. A straight orchestral score would have greatly enhanced things. That said, the cast is mostly terrific (other then a standard Clint Eastwood style performance from Jamie Foxx), and the movie does hold your interest all the way through its very long running time.

"Django Unchained" by Yojimbo

Rescuing a slave to help him track down a trio of outlaws, a German bounty hunter then forms a partnership with him and they set about finding and freeing his wife from servitude. Although it seems like more genre hopping from Quentin Tarantino, this western is really once again an exploitation-based revenge fantasy. But let's face it, one can have little sympathy for both the Nazis of Inglourious Basterds and the sadistic slavers of Django Unchained and so even the most lily-livered and liberal of us can get a cheap thrill out of experiencing some brutal retribution as we watch the down-trodden and exploited rise up to become a total bad-ass! Jamie Foxx is super-cool as a kind of be-stetsoned Shaft and Christophe Waltz is his usual brilliant self whose gentleman killer is the one …

Directed by Quentin Tarantino
Starring Jamie Fox, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo Dicaprio

The D-sign is here. All time classics of Tarantino give everyone a feeling that his movies are out of time. Django here is the story that sets still further into the 18th century. Tarantino knows what to give in the film. The bloody gun shots, impromptu shoot outs and technically smart camera zooming that give an edge to the film. Not only that, he knows how to keep a viewer interested even when a lengthy conversation is on film. A perfect cast chosen for the film ensures a rock solid entertainment. I was a bit disappointed with its duration. Over 165 minutes, Django unchained is big and too much taken for its intricate plot. Tarantino saves his best time for the climactic assault. Whoa ! I …

A freed slave, Django (Jaime Foxx), with a German Bounty hunter, Dr. Schultz (Christoph Waltz), is set to rescue his wife from the heartless owner plantation, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).

This movie was great on its entirety. Tarantino's take on this Western material was both entertaining and smart at the same time. The actors delivered well with special mention to Christoph Waltz. The story, the material itself was brilliant, it was an excellent job, indeed.
Maybe, I just do not like how bloody it was. The comedy feel plus the drama is fine. BUT, it was a great confusion for me I should feel something that is light for the comedy or should I take it seriously that it is a relevant matter for a film to present. It's just that I was not sure if I have to take in this …

One Hell of a Movie

I'm sure to go to hell for watching this movie. Quentin Tarantino is my least favorite director, but I love movies and force my husband to watch over a hundred movies per year. He loves Tarantino, so I swallow my disgust and watch movies like Django Unchained and Kill Bill and all the rest of his collection. Maybe I'm warming up to the director because I didn't think it was that bad. It was funny, dark, bloody, and it had a good ending...when it finally did end. Django becomes unchained quite a few times, so it was hard for me to feel the ending until the final showdown. Christoph Waltz was more than perfect in this movie. I was having a hard time shedding my opinion of the actor after Water for Elephants, but after the second scene in Django, I was loving this character for his …

Calvin Candie: Your boss looks a little green around the gills.
Django: He just ain't used to seein' a man ripped apart by dogs is all.
Calvin Candie: But you are used to it?
Django: I'm just a little more used to Americans than he is.
Quentin Tarantino finally unleashes his "southern" by paying great homage to spaghetti westerns of yesterday. Django is littered with gorgeous shots and dialogues as usual in every film of Tarantino were outrageous and gore was at its peak with a wonderful soundtrack from Ennio Morricone, John Legend and James Brown/2Pac duet.
Jamie Foxx is spectacular as the titular hero and we watch his transition, from enslaved helpless negro to a shrewd and sharp shooting hero determined to buy his wife back from a ruthless and sadistic man; Calvin Candie …

Django Unchained review

"This is my world, and my world is getting dirty." Not an ordinary flick for its genre. People who love the director, films in general and westerns would enjoy this. This is a stylish, cool, dramatic western picture with touches of effective humor and adequate action. With this said, one would not mind the length since its frame is picturesque coupled with delightful and sometimes disturbing scenes. The film revolves around Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German dentist who hasn't practiced for 5 years, and a freed slave named Django (Jaime Foxx). The doctor requests Django to aid him in searching for the Brittle brothers. Schultz makes a personal mission for Django to rescue his wife from Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Samuel L. Jackson as Stephen will play a huge …

Another powerhouse film by Tarantino!

Not being biased here for those that know me also know that director Quentin Tarantino is number 2 on my best directors of all time list. However with that being said, this movie quite simply put...rocked!! I also have to shout a comment from left field (sort of) that Christolph Waltz is the F***ing man!!! I have seen a million westerns in my time however only a few were nominated in my mind as being any good. Movies such as The Wild Bunch, Unforgiven, Tombstone for example. Django Unchained can also stand proudly amongst these favorite westerns of mine. Tarantino once again scores top marks again this time venturing into the wild west to deliver the ultimate tale of revenge. I noticed that Tarantino must've been a fan of Peckinpah's western style as many of Django's scenes, expecially …

One of Tarantinio's Best, But Not the Best

Quentin Tarantino is a special kind of director. The man knows what he is and stays true to his vision, in every film, giving audiences the good and the bad of his talents. He is a smart writer, a student of character, and an artistic visionary, but also a rampant egotist and somewhat of a sadist. These qualities are often on full display in his films, but no more so than in Django Unchained.
In Django, Tarantino immerses the audience into a world wholly of his own creation - populated by a cast of eccentric, terrifying, and courageous characters. The film is a twisted view of revisionist history, but doesn't stray too far from actual historical climate so as to be too extremely "out there."
The characters and setting are rich, as written, but they really come to life, thanks …
